In order to better serve our patients, their families and the community, Minnesota Vasular Clinic provides the educational courses listed below. Pre-Surgery Education As an on onging part of our practice, we hold pre-surgery education classes for our patients and family members. This class is designed for individualized instruction by a vascular nurse. We encourage our patients and family members to attend one class before their vascular surgery. It's a great way to get in-depth instruction on pre- and post-surgical care. Patients should call 952-345-4170 to schedule a date and time for this free class.

Understanding Artery Disease

As a service our patients and the community, Minnesota Vascular Clinic presents our educational course Understanding Artery Disease three times a year. Each of the course's six sessions focusses on one aspect of artery disease:

1) Overview of Artery Disease
     How it develops, risk factors, how plaque and clots form.

2) Test and Treatments, Signs and Symptoms

3) Medications
     Lowering cholesterol with statins.
     Managing blood pressure. Blood thinning medications.
     Alternative, over the counter and herbals.

4) Exercise and Activity
     Good exercises for people who have had stroke, heart disease
      or peripheral artery disease

5) Nutrition and Diet

6) Stress Management

Classes are open to the public and may be attended as a full course, or singly, as interest dictates. Those wishing to attend any or all classes should call 612-672-7272
to register. Classes are free!

The sessions are held at Fairview Southdale Hospital on six Thursday nights during winter (February / March), summer (June / July) and autumn (October / November). In 2008, all classes will be held in the Esperanza Room from 6:30 to 8:30 pm.
